Job Description
UC San Diego Health is seeking an MRI Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team in San Diego. The MRI Technologist performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with department protocols, prepares and positions patients, reviews screening and safety information, operates MRI equipment, and maintains a safe environment for patients and staff. Responsibilities include obtaining and documenting clinical history, selecting and optimizing imaging parameters, monitoring patients during examinations, recognizing artifacts and repeating images when appropriate, and communicating effectively with radiologists, nurses, technologists, and other care team members. The technologist follows UC San Diego Health policies, radiation and magnetic-field safety standards, infection prevention practices, and applicable regulatory requirements; provides compassionate patient education and service; and participates in quality improvement, equipment care, and continuing professional development. This role supports a collaborative academic health system with diverse patient populations and opportunities to work with advanced imaging technology. Current ARRT certification in radiography and MRI registry or eligibility, BLS certification, and demonstrated clinical MRI experience are preferred. Candidates must be able to safely move and position patients and work flexible schedules as assigned.
